Breitling unveils a special edition of its SuperOcean Heritage B20 Automatic, exclusively for its esteemed retail partner, Kapoor Watch Company. Limited to 50 pieces, this exquisite diver’s watch takes after the original SuperOcean from the 1950s. Kapoor Watch Company also offers pre-launch access with a timepiece serial number of choice for American Express members till 15 February 2024.
Breitling has always had a deep connection with all things maritime, underlined by their eternal quest for precision timekeeping. During the mid-fifties, Breitling soared through the skies, as their ‘HUIT’ department manufactured eight-day power reserve timepieces to service militaries and civil aviation sectors as in-flight instruments and wrist gear. Born out of this fiery aviator passion, were their famed Chronomat and Navitimer models. In 1957, Breitling set on a new quest and dived into the mighty oceans, exploring new territories with the SuperOcean – a diver’s watch with water resistance of 200 meters (a significant technical feat at the time). Soon, in 1964, the SuperOcean started using automatic movements and truly pushed the boundaries of undersea exploration with a “Deep Sea” edition (1983), capable of diving up to 1000 meters. Embracing this nautical passion, the SuperOcean Heritage came to life in 2007, half a century after their first diver’s watch was introduced.
The Breitling SuperOcean Heritage B20 Automatic 42 Special Edition for Kapoor Watch Company comes cased in 42 millimetres of stainless steel with a striking 18-carat Red Gold tipped, polished ceramic bezel which runs unidirectionally. The bezel also features complementing golden indexes while the crown is screw-locked and boasts two gaskets. Lug to lug, the case measures 51.58 millimetres and offers water resistance of up to 20 bar (200 meters).
With an exquisite, green-toned dial, the hands are laced in Super-LumiNova and crafted out of 18-carat Rose Gold, matching the bezel and crown. Taking after the original 1950s SuperOcean, the hour-hand features a triangular tip, reminiscent of oceanic exploration gear of its era. The dial also features 18-carat Rose Gold indexes and a date window at six o’clock. Just above this, rests the SuperOcean badge. Inside this aquatic exploration tool, rests the COSC-certified Breitling B20 calibre which runs automatic with dual-acting ball-bearing rotors, offering a stunning 70-hour power reserve. It also boasts a balance rate of 28,800 a/h or 4 hertz. All of this is strapped on in black mesh rubber and a stainless steel folding clasp.
