The LVMH Watch Week 2020 was held in Dubai, UAE and was hosted by four globally renowned brands, namely, Hublot, Tag Heuer, Bulgari, and Zenith. The mission for this event was clear as crystal. The French luxury goods conglomerate was aiming to overthrow the current gold standard for international watch fairs. Baselworld and SIHH better watch out. But besides the corporate manoeuvers, the event was the place to be at for Haute Horlogerie aficionados. Hublot, for one, unveiled a bunch of its new watches at this fanfare, two of which were the newest additions to the Spirit of Big Bang collection.
There are several rainbow themed watches in the markets but none are like the new Hublot inductee Spirit of Big Bang Rainbow. Hublot launched two timepieces under the Spirit of Big Bang collection at the LVMH Watch Week 2020.

King Gold Rainbow 42 mm
The former is a watch clad with 309 coloured gemstones and a matte black skeleton dial. The case stands at a formidable 42 mm diameter and is made of polished and satin-finished 18 carat King Gold. The case and bezel have a combined gemstone count of 220. The bezel alone takes the overall aesthetic to a whole level with its 54 Baguette-cut diamonds. The dial in this reference is skeletonized with a matte black foundation and has the rest of the 89 coloured gemstones brilliantly placed at the edges. Hublot uses the self-winding chronograph movement HUB 4700 with a power reserve of up to 50 hours to fuel this timepiece. The date display is modestly placed between 4 o’clock and 5 o’clock to accompany the dial without causing any disruption.

King Gold Rainbow 39 mm
The latter is a smaller iteration of the Rainbow series measuring at a sleek 39 mm. Unlike the aforementioned, this watch consists of a total of 657 coloured gemstones. The case and bezel stick to the signature satin-finished and polished King Gold and have a combined gemstone count of 226. The bezel manages to stand out courtesy of the 62 Baguette cut rainbow diamonds. Hublot seems to have given everything it had when it comes to the dial, a polished 18 carat King Gold platform with 431 coloured gemstones elegantly complementing the curved silhouette of the Tonneau-shaped case. The movement powering the watch is the HUB 1710 automatic calibre with a power reserve of 50 hours. The date display, on the other hand, can be found at a classic 6 o clock position.
There are a lot of elements in these watches that will surely put even the most adept watch enthusiast in awe. It can be the skeleton dial, it can be Hublot’s pride, King Gold, or it can be the umpteen number of sapphires, topazes, rubies, amethysts, and tsavorites.
